Summary:
The Social Media Manager & Designer is a key member of the LUP of Love team and serves as the heartbeat of our digital presence. This role blends storytelling, creativity, community engagement, and design to bring our mission to life; shifting misconceptions about lupus, empowering individuals living with the disease, and cultivating a loving, supportive space online. This person will shape our narrative, elevate our brand, and ensure every post radiates wellness, love, and awareness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a vibrant, mission-aligned social media strategy across all major platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, etc.).
- Create, curate, and design engaging, love-infused content (copy, images, graphics, videos) that reflects our brand voice and uplifts our community.
- Plan, schedule, and publish posts consistently using social media management tools.
- Monitor all social platforms for comments, messages, and mentions, responding with empathy, encouragement, and positivity.
- Collaborate closely with the LUP of Love team to plan inspiring campaigns, fundraisers, retreats, and awareness initiatives.
- Track social media performance through analytics, generate reports, and recommend improvements to increase reach, engagement, and impact.
- Stay ahead of social media trends, platform updates, and best practices to keep our content fresh, relevant, and competitive.
- Assist in designing and coordinating uplifting virtual events, live sessions, and digital campaigns tied to lupus awareness and community building.
- Actively engage with our online community, nurturing relationships and fostering a safe, supportive digital environment.
- Maintain a high level of organization, detail, and accountability in all content planning and execution.
- Demonstrate passion and dedication for lupus awareness, wellness, and the overall mission of LUP of Love.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Understanding of LUP of Love’s mission, goals, and brand voice, with the ability to translate them into compelling digital storytelling.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create content that is compassionate, clear, and inspiring.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail; able to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a mission-driven team.
- Strong judgment and discretion when engaging with community members on sensitive health related topics.
- Proficiency in social media management tools such as Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout Social, or Later.
- Strong design skills using Canva, Adobe Express, or Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro is a plus).
- Comfort using Microsoft Office and technical applications relevant to the role.
- Natural storytelling ability, with an eye for aesthetics, visual cohesion, and emotionally resonant messaging.
Qualifications:
- 2–4 years of experience in social media management, digital marketing, content creation, community engagement, or a related creative field (nonprofit experience is a plus).
- Demonstrated experience designing graphics, creating short-form video content, and producing branded visuals for social media.
- Strong understanding of social media algorithms, current trends, and analytics.
- Experience developing content calendars, scheduling posts, and executing campaigns.
- Strong copywriting and caption-writing skills with the ability to convey heart-centered messaging.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.
- Comfortable engaging with online communities and responding thoughtfully to individuals navigating health challenges.
- Passion for wellness, storytelling, and creating supportive digital spaces, especially for those living with lupus.
